Join us for a shared Stellenbosch Half day Guided Vineyard Walk that meanders for 3km – 5kms through the vineyards, offering beautiful views of vineyards and of a beautiful Banhoek wine valley. Get a closer look at the several white and red wine cultivars and you will be told about the growth, the vines and all what is done to create the tasteful wine that you will enjoy and sip on. Interpretive signs help vineyard walkers to differentiate between Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. Taste wines at two of the vineyards that we will walk through and end the day with a mount watering lunch. This tour can also be booked as a private tour.

The Banhoek Conservancy which we will walk through was formed to protect the environment, to uplift the community and to re-establish a balance between human activities and nature. After completing your hike of 9kms we are visiting a boutique vineyard in the valley with breath-taking views for a wine tasting to conclude our half-day out in nature. Our shared Guided hikes take place in the breath-taking Banhoek Valley, Stellenbosch the valley we live in! There’s no better way to get up close with the beautiful waterfalls, ravines, and mountain-topped views in this spectacular valley. The Banhoek Conservancy where the hikes take place is located between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek a nature paradise for hiking. The conservancy was founded in 2013 and registered in 2015 by a group of farmers to protect the environment, to uplift the community and to re-establish a balance between human activities and nature.
Waterfall Hike (7kms)
The out-and-back trail of 7kms hike where you will learn about the natural environment of the Dwarsrivier Valley starts with an elevator path up the Groot Drakenstein Mountain, proceeding through a valley to a waterfall. The contour path leads to a second and larger waterfall, which have a few tricky sections and are optional, but there is plenty to see without doing those. After we have nourished ourselves in this hidden gem, we take the final path down the mountain to the car park. A fair fitness is required for this moderate hike.
Duiwels kloof (Devils tooth) Hike (12.5kms)
Join us on a hike that passes through some parts of the Boschendal wine farm, overlooking the breath taking Banhoek Valley and a few regionally famous mountain ranges. We are trekking through fynbos past ‘Die Boord’ dam and a forest. You will learn more about indigenous wildlife and fynbos species.

We start off the day travelling around the Peninsula and then make our way through to the world – famous Stellenbosch wine region in the afternoon. Every year, flower-gazers marvel at a dramatic marvel at a phenomenon: a dry, brown, and seemingly barren landscape metamorphoses into a breath-taking floral wonderland. The magician behind this seemingly sudden change is the spring rain, which allows dormant seeds to germinate and erupt into the surface, blossoming in phenomenal brilliance. Yellow, pink, orange and purple carpets of the color spread as far as the eye can see. The flower season is rain-dependent. The spring bloom may occur between August – October depending on rainfall patterns.

Colin De Wet owner of Winelands Guide, were born and raised in the Winelands and that makes him and his wonderful team the best option as local guides when visiting the region. He started to work as a Wine Tasting Room Ambassador on a number of South Africa’s award-winning wine farms. His resultant contact with tourists both foreign and domestic inspired Colin to start his own small private tour operating business Winelands Guide in 2016. Offering a wide variety of personalized private tours for both individuals and small groups, Colin’s passion for South Africa’s wine and tourism industries is unmatched!
He has been working in the wine and tourism industries for over a decade now, and has obtained his Wine Certificate through the Cape Wine Academy after a few completed wine courses and soon will start with the WSET level 2 course. He completed a tourism and tour guide management courses in both 2009, and, in an effort to keep up with the times, again in 2017 and 2020. Colin can happily say that he is a fully accredited and registered tourist guide for the Western Cape and Eastern Cape. Today Winelands Guide is a small family tour operator business with Nazlee his wife running the operations, Colin covers marketing and tour guiding with also two full time tourist guide’s Prince & Tim which is also local guides.

1.Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of the deposit/full amount. Once deposits/full amounts have been received and processed they are refundable as per the conditions below:
- Less than 48hrs before tour = No refund
- Less than 72 hrs before tour = 50% refund
- More than a week before tour = 90% refund
2. Final settlement of the services is required on the commencement date of the itinerary.
3. Winelands Guide shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, additional cost, accident, delay, irregularity that may be occasioned by any error or default, act or omission by the client in carrying out the arrangements of the Tour, or otherwise in connection therewith.
